SUPREME COURT

NAIROBI—The Supreme Court will rule petition challenging the victory of Wajir County governor before the 21st of February.

In a Press statement, the court registrar said delay was not deliberate as widely reported on media.

“The need to dispel any fears of deliberate move to delay the judgement in the above appeal is imperative,” the statement read in part.

“The court would like to inform counsels and  parties to note that the judgment in the matter will be delivered well before the 21st of February, 2019 and it’s obvious that at no time has the court deliberately delayed it’s hearing or determination,” the statement added.

However, the counsel representing Ahmed Abdullah and Ahmed Muhumed termed the statement “rude” saying the court did not respond to allegations of graft.

“The court has not cleared the air on the 50 million bribe one judge in the bench received to influence the case” Ahmednassir said on Twitter.
