The assailants attacked the convoy on Arabia-Omar Jilo road, in an incident that saw Governor Roba escape unhurt. Several people were injured during the incident. The whereabouts of two vehicles that were in the convoy and their occupants are yet to be established. Governor Ali and his team are currently at El-Wak organising a rescue mission for the injured. Somalia based Al Shabaab militia group has since claimed responsibility for the attack. This is the second time Governor Roba’s convoy is being attacked. In October last year, a bodyguard attached to him was left nursing injuries after his convoy was attacked.
