Local medical doctors have attempted to remove the knife from her face but could not, prompting calls to airlift her to Nairobi for specialised treatment.

“We are responding to this emergency, flight and medical crew currently prepping to depart for Wajir,” Amref said in a tweet.

The man in question, Mohamed Deeq has been arrested, according to Wajir East head of police force, Mr Benson.

Her plight would not have been addressed had it not been for the social media users who shared her photo widely while calling on Amref and the Kenya Red Cross to chip in and facilitate her airlift to Nairobi. They also called on the governemnt to arrest the suspect, who is also her husband.

This is how they reacted to the awful incident

On Facebook,  Mohamed Muhumed:  What on earth did he do? Knife his wife? If he is confirmed normal, those handling the issue must not allow the village way of solving problems to be used on this. The law must be applied to the latter.”

Similar extreme incident of domestic violence happened mid last year when a man torched his wife and held her in a room for weeks until her situation was out of touch. That particular incident shocked the country.
