NAIROBI—Controversial Garissa Women Representative hits the national headlines once again after she called ODM leader Raila Odinga “devil “ and “uncircumcised man.”

At a rally at Elgeyo Marakwet on Saturday, Anab wondered why Raila was called “baba” by his supporters.

“Why is he (Raila)called “baba?” He’s the father of who?” Anab queried.

She continued that he was only a “devil.”

“Rebuke the devil. Raila is a devil and old man who is not yet circumcised,” Anab said.

She was reacting to an attack allegedly meted out on her by Dagoreti North MP, Simba Arati during the Kibra by-election.

“What kind of man attacks an eight months pregnant woman? He’s an animal,” she said.

The comment by the Garissa Woman Rep caused uproar and heated debate on social media.

Social media users from her constituency coined a hashtag #AnabNotMyWomenRep on Twitter to express their disappointment while others defended her comment, saying it was not only for women to respect men.

This is not the first time Anab Gure made a controversial comment in public. Last month, the Garissa Women Representative became the talk of town after she declared that her unborn child will be named after William Ruto. The legislator was speaking at Tharaka Niithi during a rally of “Inua Mama”, a group of women legislators allied to the deputy president.

“Do you see this?” Anab said, pointing at her pregnancy.

“I will name it after Ruto,” she added, drawing cheer from her colleagues.
