NAIROBI—-Nine police officers linked to the theft of $60,000 from two Somali nationals at Barwako Lodge in Eastleigh two weeks ago have today pleaded not guilty to robbery with violence, conspiracy among other charges.
The court heard that the 9 allegedly committed the offence on 27 September and 4 October, 2019.
It was revealed that they also used firearms during the incidences. They were additionally found in possession of a vehicle which was suspected to have been stolen.
One of the police officers, PC Simon Mwandiki led detectives to his houses were severals items were recovered.
However, they were denied bail or bond as they were proven flight risk and also able to temper with witnesses in the case.
One of the suspects is a foreigner who could move out of the country when released while other are police officers capable of messing with witnesses.
The officers were caught on CCTV cameras robbing two people of $60,000 (Sh6 million) alongside his colleagues constables Daniel Kipkorir, Alex Kandie, corporal Wilson Cheruiyot and Mr Jean Baptist Esome, a Cameroonian.
The suspects had robbed Mr Mohamed Hassan and Mr Abdullahi Hussein Yusuf at gun point in a room at Barwaka Lodge on Eastleigh’s Eighth Street and Second Avenue.
