One police reservist was shot dead and a colleague seriously injured in Wajir when gunmen ambushed the officers along Giriftu road. The gunmen are said to have fled the scene on foot. The slain officer and his colleague were on patrol. The injured officer was taken to the hospital.
The attack comes exactly three weeks after armed assailants lobbed a grenade and set out on a shooting spree at a nightclub in the town. One person died in the attack and eleven others were injured. No one was arrested in connection with the attack.
Wajir town has lately been under night curfew enforced by the Kenya Defense Forces.
