Central leaders have dropped censure motion against the National Assembly Majority leader Adan Barre Duale after North Eastern leaders threatened to leave the ruling Jubilee over the matter.

The MP’s will however substitute the censure motion with a Bill that seeks compensation for terror victims.

Led by the Kieni legislature Kanini Kega, the MP’s met at a Nairobi hotel Thursday to drop the anti-Duale motion and changed it with one that benefits the families of terror victims in Kenya.

” The Bill will give Sh5 million in compensation to families of terrorism victim,” he said.

The drop of the motion comes barely a week after MP’s from North Eastern Kenya vowed to leave the ruling Jubilee alliance while they questioned the politics behind the motion, saying it was a witch-hunt.

They said that they will take collective position against the party if the Central lawmakers go ahead and submit the motion to the National Assembly for deliberation.

The leaders who met at the Inter-Continental Hotel, Nairobi have defended the Garissa Township Member of Parliament while terming the bid to remove him from the post as ‘evil” Local media reports has it that Nyeri MP’s have since change their mind and are likely to drop the bid to censure Duale.
