CHACHABOLE CONSERVANCY IN MANDERA SOUTH SUB-COUNTY

Published

on

Global warming is making hot days hotter, rainfall and flooding heavier, hurricanes stronger and droughts more severe.

This intensification of weather and climate extremes will be the most visible impact of global warming in our every day lives. It is also causing dangerous changes to the landscape of our environment adding stress to wildlife species and their habitat.

Since many types of plants and animals have specific habitat requirements, climate change could cause disastrous loss of wildlife species. A slight drop or rise in average rainfall will translate into large seasonal changes.

Hibernating mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects are harmed and disturbed. Plants and wildlife are sensitive to moisture change. As a leading regional organisation focusing on environmental conservation and protection, we discourage destructive activities on Ecosystem.

Since fewer natural wildlife habitat areas remain each year. Moreover, the habitat that remains has often been degraded to bear little resemblance to the wild areas which existed in the past.

Habitat loss—due to destruction, fragmentation and degradation of habitat—is the primary threat to the survival of wildlife.

The objectives of conservation;

1. Maintenance of essential ecological processes and life-support systems.

2. Preservation of genetic diversity that is flora and fauna.

3. Sustainable utilization of species and ecosystems.

As we are preparing to celebrate with family, friends, colleagues and neighbors this season of valentine’s offers a chance to start on a new dimension of Chachabole Conservancy project. We are grateful for your enthusiasm, cooperation and pursuit of natural resources management.

We, therefore, kindly inform all well-wishers and community leaders to explore the value of conservancy. As we initiate this pilot project, we aim to create a peaceful environment in which wildlife can improve the economic wellbeing of every community. Promote local tourism and uphold natural resources management.

Your generous support will make it possible for the Chachabole conservancy to be protected and revived. The grazing Land shall be coordinated to maintain the land for both livestock and wildlife so they can co-exist.

The residents of Mandera South Sub-County and beyond under the auspices of Nomad Green Belt Movement, would be truly appreciative of your support in harmony and coordination. We feel that, our work without the community participation is nearly impossible.

We want to train the local community who are living there on the importance of wildlife and environment, so that they will manage their conservancy and resources”, said by Nomad Green Belt Movement Executive Director Mr.
