MOYALE – A routine roadblock operation in Odda, Moyale, turned into a major drug bust when a multi-agency team apprehended 45-year-old Caroline Thiunguri Kabonyi, a suspected drug trafficker with a bold concealment strategy.
The dramatic arrest unfolded when Caroline, a passenger in a Marsabit-bound Toyota Probox, resisted a standard search, drawing the attention of Police officers.
While other passengers complied with the inspection, Mrs. Caroline’s defiant outburst raised suspicions.
Moyale detectives intervened and escorted her to Moyale Sub-County Referral Hospital for a thorough examination.
With medical assistance, Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) uncovered eight pellets of cocaine, weighing 414 grams, ingeniously hidden in her private parts.
The seized cocaine, valued at approximately Sh1,656,000 on the street, has been secured as evidence.
Mrs. Caroline is currently detained at Moyale Police Station, pending her court appearance.
The bust underscores the relentless efforts of law enforcement to curb drug trafficking in the region.
DCI warned that no hiding place is too clever for justice, as they continue to crack down on illicit trade with unwavering resolve.
