DCI trailing me for political witch-hunt, nothing to do with Farmajo photo

WAJIR—Garissa Woman Representative has cleared the air on why detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are trailing her, terming it a “the usual weekend political witchhunt.”

Speaking to Kulan Post, Anab Subow said the detectives were on instruction to detain her over the weekend and arraign her next week.

“I believe it has nothing to do with the photo doing round on social media where I have the potrait of Somalia president (Farmajo) in the background,” she noted.

On Friday, Anab said: “My security detail has been withdrawn today and recalled back under unclear conditions. A contingent of police officers have also been seen in and around my estate(for) the better part of today.”

Several fellow members of parliament came to support her.

The Garissa MP has previously distanced herself from claims that “she pledged loyalty to President Farmajo and the Republic of Somalia” by fixing “the portrait of President Farmajo and the flag of Somalia in her parliament office.”

The photo shows Anab Subow sitted in what appears to be an office set-up with the potrait of President Mohamed Abdullahi and the flag of Somalia seen in the background.

Anab dismissed the rumours that was circulating on social media in the better part of the week where she was accused of “pledging loyalty to Somalia” amid worsening dipolomaic tiff between the two countries.

“That photo was taken two years ago during an event at the Somali embassy in Nairobi,” Anab said. She wondered why the photo appeared “suddenly.”
