GARISSA–Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale has called for positive criticism from the opposition the NASA coalition.
Speaking at the Seminar of National Assembly members in Mombasa on Monday, Duale urged the opposition not to critic Jubilee government without valid reasons.
“The opposition should not criticize the government for the sake of it. We should not oppose the government merely for the sake of politics, rather than offering constructive criticism.” Duale stated.
Aden Duale and his Minority counterpart John Mbadi differed over the perceived interference by the Executive in Parliament and the Judiciary.
Mbadi criticized Jubilee for attempting to interfere with Parliament and the Judiciary.
The Suba South MP said the Constitution has defined the boundaries between the three arms of government.
Duale said the Minority Party will earn respect by the extent of the interest they show in their responsibilities.
The majority leader also said that Jubilee party will not entertain rebels from within who are out to wreck the party.
He noted that anyone feeling uncomfortable with the president Uhuru Kenyatta led party should quit instead of trying to create rifts.
“We are not going to negotiate with people who are not keen on the party agenda and manifesto moving forward,” he said.
The National Assembly Majority Leader indicated that highly procedural nature of Parliament calls for an equally high level of adherence to the rules and procedures of the House.
“Parliament’s role is to offer oversight on government which includes pointing out failures and give suggestions,” he added.
