NAIROBI—National Majority Leader Aden Barre Duale Saturday met women from Garissa who live and work in Nairobi at a city hotel to discuss about issues facing women in his latest attempt to tame his political arch rival for the Township seat, Farah Maalim.

In the meeting, women said they were being sidelined from the county resources, arguing it was their constitutional right. They challenged the Majority Leader to advance their interest, saying they have a voting block to have their candidate of choice win the elections.
“We discussed women empowerment, development projects and girl child education,” Daule said.
“The meeting was led by former Minister Maalim Mohamed and Hon Salat,” he added.
Yesterday’s meeting follows one by the former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim who similarly met with the women from Garissa when he launched his political bid to clinch the Garissa Township constituency seat at the heart of Garissa politics.
