WAJIR—A location in Wajir South is set to get connected to electricity after the area legislator pushed for its implementation.

In a post to his Facebook, the Wajir South Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Mohamud Oomaar said the connection will begin in few days.

“Electrification for Lagboqol town is now here to begin! Alhamdullillah, as we achieve another great milestone, good news for my people in Lagboqol, Wajir South. We are now concluding the survey for the electrification of Lagboqol” the outspoken MP declared.

The electricity line, the MP confirmed, will begin from Habaswein to Lagboqol town. It will then be followed by centres in the other four wards such as Ibrahim Urey, Dadajabula, Burdher and Diif.

“This was long overdue. It’s a project we waited to happen for long. Whoever brought it won our hearts” Mama Suban Ugas, a resident and a roadside stall owner told Kulan Post when contacted to express her feelings.

Just a month ago, Dr Oomar lobbied for the installation of Safaricom mast for Agtalahel and Meri locations. He stated that he was similarly pushing for Salalma, Wel Ari, Majesa and Hubsoy locations.

“Those who politically fought (the projects) have failed,” Dr Oomar said.

The MP thanked political leaders from the area who were instrumental in the process of aiding him in the lobby of the much-needed projects in the constituency.

“When great leaders like Hon Nasri stands to support the area MP for service delivery to our great people and so happens quick service delivery,” the MP noted.

The news of the new development comes just two days after the MP laid the foundation stone for the building that will house the new Sabuli sub-county offices set to be launched soon.

The MP is lately gaining backing of influential figures from the area such as Omar Aden who last election compromised his political ambition in favour of the MP.

“I will now (2022) support Dr Oomaar for a second term in office,” Omar popularly reffered to as the “People’s MP” said.

“His track record speaks for itself and (he) deserves a second term in office,” Omar, who’s a key figure of the UPYA movement headed by CS for Treasury Ukur Yattani, told Kulan Post on the phone while in the US for a conference.
