Former Principal Secretary Abdiqani Dubat has expressed his gratitude for the growing support he continues to receive across Garissa County following his endorsement as the Abudwaaq community’s candidate for governor.
In a media statement released on Saturday, Dubat specifically acknowledged the endorsement by Boqor Dekow Sambul, describing him as a “respected voice of unity and wisdom.”
According to the statement sent to newsrooms, the Boqor’s decision has been affirmed by Rer Kassim elders, who view the endorsement as a legitimate and unifying outcome.
“The elders declared the matter settled and emphasized that all prospective candidates had submitted to the Boqor’s guidance,” the statement read.
It further urged an end to any actions that could divide the community, noting that the elders would not participate in further deliberations.
The statement also raised concerns over a separate committee involved in the selection process, alleging it had been compromised by external influences.
“The committee is believed to be influenced by interested parties and therefore no longer has the trust and confidence of the people,” the statement added, saying its neutrality was now “in serious doubt.”
Dubat urged residents to remain focused on what truly matters: delivering leadership rooted in unity, public service, and progress anchored in the will of the people.
