First Kenyan graduate at Islamic Online University

The first Kenyan student has graduated at Islamic Online University (IOU) after successfully completing his online learning course. Hamisi Miriti was awarded a Bachelor of Art in Islamic Studies (BAIS) degree.
Islamic Online University is the first internet based institution to provide tuition free bachelor of Islamic studies academic programme. A growing number of Kenyans have joined Online institution for degree and diploma courses with nearly 1,000 students enrolled.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony over the weekend at Nairobi Jamia Mosque, the IOU country representative Sheikh Abdullatif Abdulkarim called on Muslim students in the country to put their best foot forward in their academic and spiritual life to ensure that they achieve success in the journey of academics and the hereafter.
Sheikh Abdullatif advised Muslim students to develop modalities and measures that can assist them prosper in their education endeavors citing the formation of education interaction groups which can motivate them to improve on their careers in order to realise their dreams in life.
He further encouraged Muslim students especially those who have completed their secondary level to register and utilize the opportunity availed by Islamic Online University to further their education for prosperity.
On his part Da’wah Officer at Jamia Mosque Muhammad Abdallah said it is obligatory for Muslims both male and female to seek for knowledge, stressing that as students they are expected to be courageous and committed on their search for knowledge in order to prosper.
Muhammad further urged students to concentrate on their studies and reflect on the rich Islamic heritage where Muslims made great strides whose legacy continues to be felt in this contemporary world.
In his remarks Hamisi thanked the founder of Islamic Online University Dr Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips for the initiative which he said has benefitted many upcoming young scholars across the world.
