Four arrested in possession of 150 kgs of giraffe meat

GARISSA—Authorities in Garissa on Sunday arrested poachers who slaughtered giraffes in Ijara area of Garissa County. The four were charged with illegal possession of bush meat.

The operation was conducted by a team comprised of officers from Kenya Wildlife Service, Northern Rangelands Trust and the Director of criminal investigations.

Kulan Post understands that the team nabbed over 150 Kgs of giraffe meat. Also recovered are carcasses of “four dikdiks and two lesser kudu.”

In a statement, the Kenya Wildlife Services said the suspects would be arraigned at Garissa Law Courts to face charges of illegal possession of bush meat.
