WAJIR—Airline service outlet joins environmentalists in town cleaning exercise on the weekend as the world marked World Clean Up Day.

Hundreds of activists fanned out across open fields and streets throughout Wajir on Saturday, picking up rubbish and drawing attention to the amount of trash that is dumped worldwide, a day after millions marched to urge world leaders to act on climate change.

The volunteers turned out for World Cleanup Day, an initiative that has sent millions into the streets and cleaning up litter across the globe since it began just over a decade ago.

Funjet Airlines Services joined the governor of Wajir, Mohamed Abdi as well as First Lady Mama Kheira Omar, Speaker of the County Assembly, Ibrahim Yakub and NEMA representative in exercise to keep Wajir town clean and plant trees as part of afforestation drive.

Started by youthful entrepreneurs from Wajir County, Funjet offers a wide range of airline services such as aircraft hire, ticketing and tour.

“It’s part of our core values to be part of community-driven and support the environment we operate in,” Osman Noor, the CEO of Funjet Airlines.
