IFTIN – Garissa County Youth Leader Nasteh Farah has commended Woman Representative Amina Siyad Udgoon for her commitment to community welfare and her recent election as Vice Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
“Mrs. Udgoon, who has been actively involved in supporting vulnerable communities, continues to make a significant impact in the region,” said Mr. Nasteh.
He said during the holy month of Ramadan, Udgoon spearheaded the distribution of essential food supplies to support families in need.
Fatuma Abdi, a resident of Lower Fafi expressed her gratitude, emphasizing the importance of such efforts during these challenging economic times.
“We are grateful for her kindness and dedication. Many families in our community are struggling, and this food aid has brought much-needed relief,” she said.
Mr. Hassan Noor, said, “she has shown true leadership by standing with us. This is what we need from our leaders—actions that directly impact people’s lives.”
The initiative has been made possible through collaboration with the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) committee and the Office of the Women Representative.

Udgoon extended special thanks to the Coordinator of the Office of the Women Representative and the entire NGAAF committee for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the program’s success.
Udgoon’s recent election as Vice Chairperson of the PAC has also been met with widespread praise. In March, she secured the position with 11 votes against Funyula MP Hon. (Dr.) Wilberforce Oundo, marking a significant milestone in her political career.
“I am truly honored by the trust placed in me. It is remarkable that I, as a woman, have risen to this leadership position within PAC. I promise to serve diligently and with the utmost respect for the role entrusted to me,” she stated after her election.
Garissa residents see this as an inspiration for young women aspiring to join leadership roles.
“She is a role model for all of us. Her journey shows that women can break barriers and lead in male-dominated spaces,” said Asha Mohamed, a youth leader in Garissa town.
The PAC plays a crucial role in scrutinizing government expenditure and ensuring accountability in the use of public funds.
Udgoon, who has been a member of the committee for two years, highlighted the significance of her election, particularly as she was initially the only woman in the committee.
“I will work closely with the Chairperson and all members to ensure we deliver on our mandate,” she affirmed.
Garissa residents are hopeful that her influence in Parliament will translate into further development projects in the county.
“She has done a lot, and we urge her to keep pushing for more projects in education, health, and infrastructure,” said Ahmed Farah, a community elder in Garissa.
Garissa County Youth Leader Nasteh Farah said with her dedication to both humanitarian aid and governance, Amina Siyad Udgoon is solidifying her reputation as a leader committed to the welfare and progress of the people of Garissa.
“Her efforts continue to resonate with many, reaffirming her position as a key figure in Garissa’s political and social landscape,” he added.
