Garissa Chapter CEO of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Abdiwahid Ahmed Mohamed, has lauded the appointment of KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto to the prestigious World Chambers Federation (WCF) General Council.
In a congratulatory message, shared with Kulan Post, Mr. Abdiwahid hailed the milestone as a proud moment not only for KNCCI but for the entire Kenyan business community.
He said the inclusion of Dr. Rutto to the WCF General Council is a recognition of the growing influence in global commerce and a testament to the leadership Kenya offers in championing private sector development.
“This appointment reflects the confidence the international business community has in Kenya’s leadership and innovation. Dr. Rutto’s voice at the global table will no doubt open more opportunities for our SMEs, enhance cross-border partnerships, and spotlight Kenya as a key player in global trade,” said Mr. Abdiwahid.
WCF Chair Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu announced the appointment of Dr. Rutto, who now joins 39 other council members—20 elected and 19 appointed—from across the Americas, Africa, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Europe.
The WCF, a vital arm of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), was established to unite chambers of commerce and millions of businesses across the globe.
Since its founding in 1951 (renamed WCF in 2001), it has provided a global platform for chamber leaders to share best practices, strengthen MSMEs, and address emerging business challenges through the World Chambers Congress.
Mr. Abdiwahid noted that Dr. Rutto’s appointment will further empower Kenyan chambers by expanding international linkages, promoting innovation, and giving local enterprises greater visibility on the world stage.
