GARISSA – The first-ever Job Fair and Exhibition in Garissa county will be held between February 26th and 27th, 2025, at Garissa University.
Themed “Connecting Talent with Employers, Businesses, and Skills Development,” the event aims to provide job seekers, entrepreneurs, and students with opportunities. The exhibition provides a platform to engage directly with employers, explore business prospects, and enhance their career skills.
The fair was organized in collaboration with Rural Employment Service (RES) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) with the support of the 4th County Youth Employability Summit.
The two day job fair seeks to bridge the gap between local talent and available employment opportunities.
“Don’t miss out on the first Garissa County Job Fair and Exhibition! Whether you’re an exhibitor, employer, student, or job seeker, this is your chance to connect and grow,” read in part a statement from the Rural Employment Service.
“Network, explore career opportunities, and unlock your future! Whether you’re an exhibitor, employer, student, or job seeker, this is your chance to connect and grow,” said the agency.
The National Employment Authority (NEA) which will have representatives at the meeting said those looking for a job, career advice and skill enhancement will be helped.
“We’re here to help!” read a digital poster shared on social media by NEA.
The organization is mandated by law to support rural development through productive employment and decent work.
Participants at the meeting will have the chance to interact with recruiters, attend career development sessions, and network with industry professionals.
The event is scheduled at Garissa University, the region’s only institution of higher learning. It aims to bring together job seekers and employers in a dynamic setting that fosters learning and professional growth.
The Authority supports technical and vocational education and training (TVET) aimed to help people gain the skills they need to find jobs.
The forum is ideal for enthusiasts and scholars to connect with potential employers. The relationship will eventually provide support through mentoring and apprenticeships.
One of the key partners in this initiative is County Governance Watch (CGW), a non-governmental organization focused on socio-economic and sustainable development.
Since Kenya’s 2010 Constitution introduced devolution, CGW has played a crucial role in promoting transparency, accountability, and effective governance across counties.
The organization developed the County Governance Index (CGI) to assess how county governments deliver essential services such as healthcare, education, water, and infrastructure.
CGW also works to advance climate action, gender equality, and the inclusion of marginalized communities in governance and development.
Beyond offering immediate job opportunities, the Garissa County Job Fair aims to foster long-term economic growth and community development.
The event will bring together government institutions, private sector stakeholders, and civil society organizations to facilitate career advancement and business growth.
The meeting also serves as a platform for public participation in governance, encouraging dialogue between employers, employees, and policymakers.
Residents, students, and professionals are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the resources available.
Participants will get the opportunity to explore diverse career paths, enhance their skills, and build valuable connections within their industries.
