GARISSA—Garissa has witness an increase in wedding ceremonies since the county system was introduced four years ago, the area governor has claimed.

On his Facebook post after attending a marriage ceremony in Garissa, governor Nadhif Jamaa said the trend was healthy, adding he expects more of such unions to take place in the near future.

“Weddings and marriage have been in the news a lot recently since the inception of Devolution under my helm.
Every week,I celebrate Devolution of marriages in Garissa county,”

The latter statement; “I support the devolution of marriages” has a lot of people in Garissa  wondering what it means.

Section of Facebook users believe the statement couldn’t come at a better time since the country approaches the most competitive and costly elections ever.

“The Mheshimiwa (honourable) means the devolution of political coalitions,” Ahmed Warsame posted on his Facebook.

Nathif Jamaa attended four wedding ceremonies in the last month (August) alone.
