Grenade attack in Wajir leaves at least 5 people injured.

MONDAY NIGHT: An 8 pm grenade attack in Wajir left at least five people injured. The attack happened along Airport Road in central Wajir where the biggest and most famous drinking joint in the town is located.
The assailed hurled two grenades into the compound of the pub, according to an eyewitness who happened to be passing by the club at the time of the attack, followed by heavy gunfire that lasted over ten minutes.
“I could see people running to all directions. It seemed like a scene from an action movie,” Abdihakin Mursal told Wajir Times on phone.
THE twin grenade blast was followed by heavy gunfire that lasted over ten minutes, according to an eyewitness. “Casualty from the attack is likely to be high as more injuries arrive at Wajir Refferal Hospital,” a local medic said.
“…the tonight’s incident has the hallmark of a well-planned attack aimed at causing destruction,” a security official in Wajir told Wajir Times in confidence.
The grenade attack in Wajir follows last night’s similar attack in Garissa that left one person one person seriously injured.
