NAIROBI—Petitioners have moved to court to challenge the nominees for the positions of Wajir County Public Service Board chairman, secretary and five members citing discrimination and lack of slot for minorities.
The petitioners also poked holes in the process that saw single-sourcing of a consultancy firm that shortlisted and hired the interested applicants.
Ahmed Adan Hefow challenged Governor Mohamed Abdi of Wajir over the composition of the nominees at the High Court. The matter is set for mention on 18th of September before Justice Korir at the Milimani Law Courts’ Constitutional and Human Rights Division. Hefow listed the County Government of Wajir, the County Assembly and the governor as repsondents.
”The governor must understand that the county resources and job opportunities cannot be managed as a personal belonging. The law and local arrangements must be respected and upheld,” Hefow toldKulan Post.
