I was born and bred in Elwak, attended Elwak DEB School many years ago along with Abdi A Isaak and many others. My parents still live in Elwak too. So I consider Elwak home. That is where my umbilical cord is burried. That was where I shed blood when I was circumcised. It is home. It was home until they imposed Mwalimu Huka on us. He is a stranger. He doesn’t know Mandera South. They handed it over to him on a silver platter. I haven’t been there for donkey years, but all am hearing is that Mwalimu Huka has failed us. He has let us down. He has not initiated one single tangible project in that desolate, godforsaken land. All he did after his election was to marry a young beautiful woman…..well that is personal development. It is personal growth. But apart from that, he has not done anything good, either for himself or for the people who elected him.
Mwalimu Huka, God is watching you! You never even spoke in the parliament, am told. You should have been confident enough to say a word in that august house. Hata kama ni kuinua mkono na kusema [even if by raising your arm] “Excuse me bwana speaker, may I go to toilet?” Say something please. Make us proud. Just anything!
Mwalimu Huka, we shall soon start mobilising people to recall you from that august house. The law is clear. Nothing will stop that. Not even the good council of elders who put you on that throne. We shall revolt. Soon or later that day is coming Mwalimu. Please do something before we start collecting signatures from the same people who elected you. They will recall you or force you to resign. Mwalimu, be heard. Say something in parliament, do something for the people of Mandera South. That is a small constituency for heaven sake and the CDF money is enough to improve the lives of those wretched constituents. You are sleeping on the job man. Wake up!
