It’s Banane of Lagdera Constituency not Wajir South, Regional Commissioner confirmsss

NAIROBI—The Northeast Regional Commissioner’s (RC) office has confirmed that the Banane in Wajir County was not elevated to a sub-county level, but that of Lagdera Constituency in Garissa County.

The office was forced to make the confirmation after section of Lagdera constituents angrily demanded an answer from the Interior Ministry.

We could not immedietely verify the existance of the alleged Gazette notice despite several contact with the Governemnt Printers along Haille Sellasie Avenue, Nairobi.

Similar confusion was witnessed in Wajir South in Wajir county where Diif was slated for the post.

At his second visit to Wajir county early May, President Uhuru said he would make Diif and Hadado as sub-county areas. Banane of Wajir South was not mentioned.

“It is Banane of Lagdera Constituency (Garissa County) and not Banane of Wajir South (Wajir County), ” a confirmation note seen by Kulan Post read in part.

In a gazette notice dated June 21, Tongaren, Bura East, Tiaty East and Elang’ata-Wuas in Bungoma, River Tana, Baringoand and Kajiado counties respectively have been named Sub-counties.

So have Kotulo in Wajir County, Bananey in Garissa , Oloililai in Kajiado and Igambang’ombe in Tharaka Nithi.
