Jamia Mosque appoints Sheikh Jamaldeen Osman as new deputy in mini shake-up

NAIROBI—In a move aimed to enhance on service delivery and streamline the activities of Jamia Mosque Committee, new staff members have been brought on board to drive the aspirations of the Committee to meet its strategic goals.

In the new development, Mombasa based scholar Sheikh Jamaldeen Osman is now the deputy Imam and will serve as the assistant to Sheikh Muhammad Swalihu who is the Imam. 

Sheikh Juma Amir who has been the deputy Imam will now focus more on his role as the Director of Information Centre where his duties will involve engagements with visitors on Islamic matta as well as providing counselling and guidance services to the community.

Sheikh Jamaldeen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sciences of Hadeeth, Diploma in Arabic language from Islamic University of Madina in Saudi Arabia and has been an assistant Imam at Masjid Hudah Sparki in Mombasa carrying out da’wah activities and providing guidance and counseling services to youth, married couples and reverts.

The sheikh has been a visiting Khatib delivering Friday sermons at several mosques and institutions within Mombasa and also participated in Islamic conferences as a speaker. Sheikh Jamaldeen has further headed various Islamic education institutions as the lecturer and principal.

He brings a wealth of experience to accelerate Da’wa activities as it is the core activity of Jamia Mosque Jamia Training Institute (JTI) new Principal is Ramadhan Hamisi Sidia, a Moi University graduate with Degree in Administration, Masters in Disaster Management from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology(MMUST). 

He also holds Diploma in Islamic studies. Ramadhan is a lecturer and currently a member of Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM).

To enhance on its activities, JTI last month moved from the Jamia Mosque complex to a spacious location at Jamia Towers along Murang’a road opposite Meridian Hotel.

In the Jamia Administration department, Farhid Javer recently was appointed as the Deputy Administrator.

In the IT Department, Hesham Abdul Hassan Ali has been appointed as the new IT manager and will be responsible for revamping and enhancing the Information and Communications and Technology (ICT) concepts at the mosque.

“The changes are part of the programmes to further enhance service delivery and the activities of Jamia mosque in line with the committee’s mission, vision and strategic goals,” said the secretary general Abdul Bary Hamid.
