The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has been summoned by police for allegedly inciting teachers working in North Eastern not to return to work over insecurity.

From a tweet posted Wednesday,  Sossion said “I am summoned to the CID over the NEP teachers. My statement is simple. Children of NEP deserve quality education from secure teachers,”

Sossion claims that some teachers from North Eastern have been spending the night at the boardroom in his office.

He further intimated that he dared the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to sack the teachers who have refused to return to work adding that no teacher shall return to disputed regions until their issues are addressed.

Learning in schools in North Eastern Kenya has since been paralysed as teachers who are not from the region continue to stay away.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has however warned the teachers of losing their jobs if they do not return to work.
