GARISSA—Garissa governor Ali Korane says development projects initiated during his tenure will remain unparelled for years to come.

Speaking when he toured the legacy projects initiated by his administration in partnership with World Bank’s Kenya Urban Support Program, Korane said those ‘under-rating’ his performance score are aloof and detached from the reality.

“My 5 year score card will be unmatched and I will be ready to be accountable to the people of Garissa county when the time comes,” Korane said.

Among the projects the governor visited are the Orahey market that is 85 per cent complete before moving to the 4 km Futol and Siraji Roads in Waberi ward that were upgraded into Bitumen standards.

The improved road projects will greatly boost the local economy, decongest road traffic and improve the image of Garissa municipality,” he added.

Korane later inspected the on-going ultra-modern Covid-19 isolation center before ending his tour at the on-going Galbet road that link Ngamia road through Dobale to Dahiye stage.

The Governor who interacted with members of the public as he inspected the projects, said more road projects will be upgraded in the current financial year.

The chairman of the Municipality Board Mohamed Ibrahim Salat urged members of the public in Garissa town to properly dispose of their waste.

Salat said the municipality had created designated areas for waste disposal but locals were not making use of them.
Among those who accompanied the governor were lands and urban planning CEC Abdi Farah and the CEO for the municipality Abdinur Ole Hussein.

Also present were the county secretary Abdi Sheikh, Water Issa Oyow, Garissa county deputy speaker Mohamud Abass, MCAs Kassim Dagane (Saka), Mohamed Abdi (Dadaab) and nominated MCA Katra Iman.
