BANISA – The Mandera County Department of Trade, Investment, and Cooperatives has wrapped up a week-long revenue mobilisation exercise aimed at strengthening local economic development and enhancing county revenue collection on Saturday.
The County Executive Committee Member Mr. Adan Dakane, accompanied by county top officials, engaged business stakeholders across Gither, Burduras, and Banisa towns in a series of consultative meetings focused on improving trade infrastructure and compliance with county revenue policies.
During the visit, Mr. Dakane unveiled plans to operationalize the local market, a move that was welcomed by local traders.
He encouraged business owners to support the county administration by fulfilling their revenue obligations.
The county executive member said enhanced collections would enable better service delivery and infrastructure development.

“We are committed to creating a conducive environment for trade, but we also call upon all business people to partner with us by paying their dues. This is a shared responsibility,” said Mr. Dakane.
In Burduras, the team addressed issues raised by small-scale traders and cooperatives, reaffirming the county’s commitment to streamline trade licensing and improve market access for local products.
The exercise concluded in Banisa town with a stakeholder engagement forum involving the local business community.
The team briefed participants on the county government’s current and upcoming programmes related to trade, investment, and revenue policy.
They discussed ways of boosting compliance, simplifying processes, and addressing challenges facing businesses in the region.
Mr. Dakane thanked the residents and business leaders for their participation and reiterated the county’s dedication to inclusive economic growth through policy reforms and stakeholder collaboration.
The County Department of Trade, Investment, and Cooperatives plans to continue similar engagements in other sub-counties as part of a broader effort to improve the ease of doing business and ensure sustainable development across Mandera.
