MANDERA—Marooned by floods caused by the ongoing Elnino rains, the Deputy Governor of Mandera Dr Ali Maalim said the situation “is getting dire” as heavy downpour and poor drainage submerged most parts of the county, particularly the low-lying Mandera South Constituency.

Maalim said since the beginning of the Elnino rains, three people died—two boys who had completed their KCPE exams and a woman.

He also challenged the area business owners “not to hike the prices unjustly.”
