Mandera hit by twin blasts on Friday morning

MANDERA: At least two loud blasts were heard Friday morning in Mandera town at a neighburhood close to the Somali boarder. No one was injured in the blast.

The bomb believed to be IED went off five minutes apart, according to area residents who scampered for safety after the defeaning sound of the blasts.

However, the Mandera County commissioner Fedrick Shisha said only one blast was heard.

He added, “The attack was meant to harm innocent people but no one has been confirmed injured.”

Shisha said Al Shabab bomb experts sneaked through Bula Hawa border and planted the bombs.

Police said the blast were home-made bombs planted at least 15-meters apart.
