LAFEY – A matatu overturned on the Lafey-Mandera route on Wednesday, leaving 14 passengers on board.
Seven passengers were injured in the crash. Their injuries ranged from minor to severe, Kulan Post reports.
Lafey Member of Parliament, Mohamed Abdikheir, confirmed there were no fatalities. “It could have been worse,” he said.
The injured were quickly rescued by local residents and emergency services. They were taken to Mandera County Referral Hospital for further treatment.
Mr. Abdikheir praised the swift response of the community. “The locals acted fast to help.”
“We extend our thoughts and prayers to the injured and their families, we wish them a speedy recovery,” he said.
