NAIROBI—President Uhuru Kenyatta and the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta have opted to respond to a barrage of insult by Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo with compassion.
A Christmas card with the picture of the First Family and their signatures was addressed to Millie who, on Tuesday, directed her fury at President Uhuru after the security officers manning the Parliament Road asked her to walk to the parliament building ahead of a heated debate in the House over electoral laws and cap at government borrowing.
The card reminded the vocal MP of the significance of Christmas to the Christians, saying it is a period to remember and apply shared love of compassion.
“We share this holiday with all people of all persuasions because what we celebrate are cherished universal human impulses,” the card read in part.
The picture of the card was trending on Twitter and Facebook for the better part of Wednesday.
“Often what we see as our differences are only expressions of problems that can be resolved through a commitment to goodwill, love peace and unity.
“To you, your family and everyone you love, Happy Christmas and a wonderful new year,” President Uhuru stated on the card.
On Tuesday, Millie Odhiambo directed insults at the President.
“I dedicated this day to telling the President all the negative things I have. We fought for this country as he was in foreign land so President Uhuru cannot dictate his powers to me or any other elected member,” she said.
She added, “Uhuru should start packing for his journey back to Gatundu as he is a fake President as his own backyard is poor. We have come here prepared for death and we are going to Canaan not back to Egypt.”
“Who does he think he is, he does not even compare to me leave alone Raila Odinga, tell him he can take me to court. He is extremely stupid and my conscience tells me so….msheenzi (stupid),”the Mbita legislator continued.
