MANDERA—Muslims across Mandera County have been urged to maintain a peaceful election and care for each other during the forthcoming general election as they celebrated Eid-ul Fitr at Jamia mosque grounds to marks the end of Ramadhan.
Speaking during today’s prayers, Imam Hassan Mohamed urged the Muslims in Mandera County not to be persuaded negatively by leaders during the campaign season and during the election.
Hassan urged the leaders to campaign well and distance themselves from tribal sentiments and hate speeches while campaigning.
He said Kenya is greater than any single individual and that politics should not be used to divide Kenyans.
The festival of Eid ul-Fitr, the Festival of Fast-breaking, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
The Muslims celebrate the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-dusk fasting during the entire month of Ramadan season.
