Mogadishu’s main airport to be closed partly on Tuesday ahead UN boss visit

MOGADISHU—The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has announced a temporary lockdown of Aden Abdulle International Airport on Tuesday ahead of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres touchdown in Mogadishu.

“Lockdown measures include internal checkpoints within AAIA/Halane, enforcement of curfew from 2000 hrs to
0500hrs, beach access is prohibited among other measures,” a statement by ATMIS said in part.

Heightened security measures at the airport will mean mounting of additional checkpoints.
