WAJIR—Wajir governor has defended his latest county appointments, saying no section living in the county was left out.

Through his press office, governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud said his administartion would live up to it’s campaign call to unite the various clans and interest groups in the county.

“(Governor) Mohamed Abdi is known for uniting and bringing communities and people together,” the press director of the governor, Ahmed Abdi told Kulan Post in a statement.

The governor was reacting to social media conversation where he was accused of isolating section of Wajir West applicants in county appointments.

“This is an outright lie and against the principle of inclusivity that, on the contrary, guides Amb. Mohamed Abdi and his administration,” Ahmed added.

He continued, “Because of the confidence he has in the Mantaan community, the Governor has appointed a County Executive Committee Member, a chief officer in his office, Deputy County Secretary, Deputy Manager for the Wajir Municipal Council, Private Secretary/Senior Administrative Assistant to the Governor, three Advisors and Directors from the said community. This shows how the Governor values the contribution of this community in the socio-political engagements in the County.”

The press statement noted that “reshuffle of the County Staff is a recommended practice which is accepted under our Labour Laws and Employment Regulations.”

The statement called on the “disgruntled team” to accept the election outcome and embrace their “new role as the opposition camp.”

In his inauguration speech, governor Mohamed Abdi assured that he would not target clans and individuals perceived to be from hostile areas.
