WAJIR—Former Wajir East Member of Parliament and current ambassador of Kenya to Saudi Arabia Mohamed Abdi Mohamud has condemned the Baqala incident where six people have lost their lives in clan clashes.

Mohamud said he is worried by the incident, adding that pastoral communities should live together amicably and share God-given resources.

“Let us stop all hostilities and solve our differences by embracing dialogue,” he said.

“I also want to clarify that I didn’t mean it when I said Baqala belongs  to Eldas,” Amb Mohamud told Kulan Post.

“I was made to understand that the location of Baqala is a contentious issue pitting Wajir West and Eldas constituencies and had not been clearly placed,” he added.

He apologised to the people of Eldas and Wajir West.

The Kenyan ambassador to Iran Rukia Subow asked the people of Wajir County to accept the apology of Mohamed Abdi.

Humanitarian activist Bishar Ismail said the “Apology is accepted.”

“I personally knew Amb (Mohamed) did not say it in bad intention,”he said.

Amb Mohamed condoled with the families of those who died in Baqala.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families and other loved ones of those killed, and I wish quick recovery to those who were injured,” Amb Mohamed Abdi stated.
