Northeastern leaders to drive partnership between security agencies and locals

NAIROBI—Legislators from the three Northeastern counties have resolved to catalyse the partnership between security agencies and locals amid rising spate of cross-border insurgency in the region.

Chaired by the head of the North Eastern Parliamentary (NEP) Group, the leaders vowed to join the campaign to rid Shabab from the country.

“Our discussion as leaders from the region was about how we can accelerate a concerted, aggressive and time-bound efforts to achieve a collaborative action with the communities and the Government security agencies,” Eldas MP told Kulan Post shortly after the meeting held in Nairobi.

The meeting was attended by Hussein Waytan (Mandera East)- Vice Chairman, Salah Yakub Farah (Fafi)- Secretary General, Umulkheir Kassim (Woman Rep, Mandera)- Treasurer, Adan Daud Mohamed (Wajir East), Yussuf Farah (Wajir West), Hussein Abdu Barre (Tarbaj), Fatuma Abdi Jehow (Woman Rep, Wajir), Abdi Omar Shuriye (Mbalambala), and Abdi Ali Haji Shekhow (Ijara).

Others are the MP for Lagdera, Abdikadir Hussein Amina Siyad Udgoon ( Women Rep, Garissa), Abdulkadir Mohamed Haji (Senator), Adan Haji (Mandera West), Mohamed Abdikheir (Lafey), Major (Rtd) Bashir (Mandera North), Zuleikha Hulbale (Nominated MP), Mariam Sheikh Omar (Nominated Senator) and Abdulwahab Kore (Mandera South).
