STATEHOUSE NAIROBI – Mandera leaders have endorsed the rollout of the animal vaccination programme scheduled for January 2025.
The county leadership which is dominated by the United Democratic Movement party (UDM) said the rollout will aid effective control of livestock diseases and ensure healthier breeds.
The party secured 11 MPs, 64 MCAs, and 2 governors during the last general election.
Previously, this exercise has not been effective and efficient because it was done in selected parts of the country.
Under the new program, vaccination will cover 22 million cattle and 50 million sheep and goats in all parts of our country.
It will be the beginning of more government investment in the livestock sub-sector to make it achieve its immense potential and make its full contribution to the economy.
President William Ruto on Thursday met the leadership of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) party, State House Nairobi.
They were led by party leader and Mandera Senator Ali Roba and deputy party leaders Mohamud Mohamud (Marsabit Governor) and Hon Abdullahi Bashir Sheikh (Mandera North).
Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif, said the President assured us of his commitment to the implementation of various development programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic welfare of our people.
