In what is billed as the first such high-level meeting this year between the head of the state Uhuru Kenyatta and the County Commissioners from the 47 counties, the Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and his Defense counterpart Rachel Omamo, sources at the State House intimated that the president is not content with the security status of the country and could initiate reshuffle to tame the security menace.
The meeting comes two days after the deadly Mandera attack where the militant group Al Shabab killed 12 people at a Bishaaro Guest House.
President Uhuru cancelled a foreign trip to Angola and instead dispatched his deputy William Ruto to represent him in a bid to deal with the aftermath of the Mandera attack.
The President will also meet Permanent Secretaries Karanja Kibicho (Interior), Micah Powon (Correctional services), Joepheta Mukobe (Special programs) and Peter Kaberia (Defense).
The president will also deal with the Kipsigis and Kisii border fighting which has continued despite the deployment of security forces.
