In just over two weeks ago, suspected Al Shabab militants attacked a local guest house and killed 12 people in the night attack.

Nyeri leaders believe Mandera locals are behind the spate of “terror” attacks in the town.

“We urge the locals to cooperate with the security agencies in giving out intelligence report in order to restore sanity,” Roba said.

He was accompanied in the tour by the legislators from the county among them Eng Mohamed Mohamud (Mandera West), Adan Mohamed Noor (Mandera North), Mohamed Abdow (Banisa) and Mohamed Adan (Mandera South).

“We are here on a drought assessment and response as well as security sensitization programme,” the governor said.

He said his administration has done water tracking to 114 areas and added additional water boozers to areas where water is relatively available.

“Distribution of relief food to 63,000 households across the country has also kicked off,” the governor stated.

“I must say that I was really impressed by the level of appreciation in all the centers we visited,” the governor added.
