WAJIR—The deputy President, William Ruto is set to lead Waqf fundraiser for Tarbaj madrasas on Saturday. He will be accompanied by the Majority Leader in the National Assembly, Aden Duale and several other Jubilee affiliated MPs.
The area member of Parliament, Ahmed Bashane said drive will support local religious institutions.
“The aim of this programme is to step up a Waqf for the constituency that will support our mosques, madrassas and other religious institutions financially,” the legislator said.
It’s not the first time a major fund-drive was held in Wajir County.
Raila Odinga and Mombasa Governor, Ali Joho were in Wajir late last month in support of the oldest Madrasa—Al Fatah Islamic Institute.
“I can confirm that he will attend,” Bashane told Kulan Post.
Other leaders who confirmed attendance are the area governor, Mohamed Abdi and Rashid Kassim (Wajir East).
