Speaking to Kulan Post on the phone, Mohamed said the public tipped the security agencies about the attack and the police responded quickly to tame the situation.

He added that, “There could be other who sustained injuries in the gunfight that we cannot account for.”

According to the locals, the fighting caused the death of at least eight people.
The conflict has basis on border dispute which started few months back.

“We are calling on the leaders and the communities in the area to calm and let the conflict be resolved through the proper mechanism in place,” Abdijabar Mohamed, a youth leader in the area said.

“We are going to Baqala tomorrow to deal with the problem,” the commandant stated.

Wajir West MP, Abdikadir Ahmed Ore said the situation has calmed, adding that he would mobilise elders and religious leaders to calm the tension.
“I will fly to Wajir tomorrow to go Baqala along a team made up of Tarbaj MP Mohamed Elmi, nominated senator Halima, the security apparatus, elders from the area and religious leaders,” he told Kulan Post on the phone.
