BREAKING NEWS

NAIROBI—Former presidents of South West state, Sharif Ahmed and his Galmudug counterpart as well as several Senators and MPs just landed at Kismayo’s Sayid Abdulle Hassan airport from Kenya’ capital, Nairobi.

The unprecedented arrivals come at the height of stiff fall-out between the Jubbaland leader, Ahmed Madobe and Federal President, Mohamed Farmajo.

Just last week, Madobe’s inauguration was called off after the Somali Civil Aviation Authority ancelled direct flights to Kismayu. The department later denied the directive, saying it only called for 24-hour prior notice.

Former Somali President, Shiekh Shariff was also barred from flying to Kismayu, causing political pressure on President Farmajo.
