NAIROBI—The Kenya Hajj Mission under the auspices of Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) has approved and registered 40 Hajj agencies to participate in the 2020 hajj exercise.

This followed vetting and verification of applications from Hajj agencies and companies for this year’s hajj.

According to the Kenya Hajj Mission, 40 out of 77 companies that applied for the registration have so far been approved to participate in this year’s Hajj and Umrah exercises.

“We wish to inform all Hajj agencies that submitted their documents by the deadline of 21st February, 2020 that after verification, each agency has been notified of the next step. Those who were approved have been individually notified to make payments for registration and hajj expenses and the rest have also been informed of pending requirements to submit.

The whole exercise will close on Friday 13th March 2020,” read part of the Press Release.

The Kenya Quota stands at 6,000 and Kenya Hajj Mission called on Hajj agencies that have been approved and those intending to travel for Hajj this year to start early preparations and ensure they make payments for registration for the 2020 Hajj before the stipulated deadline. The deadline for closure of registration set by the Saudi authority is May 24.

The National coordinating body lamented that in the past years, preparations and payment for the required expenses have been compromised by last-minute rush stressing that Hajj agencies should not have outstanding debts related to hajj activities as a lot of changes have been introduced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which has insisted on advance payment for the hajj services.
