NAIROBI—Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper party leader has termed former deputy speaker of the National Assembly’s petition loss as a big blow to electoral justice in Kenya.

He was speaking at the fifth graduation ceremony of South Eastern of Kenya University in Kitui county on Tuesday. Kalonzo said electoral justice in Kenya will remain a pipe dream unless Kenyans unite in demanding for reforms.

“Farah Maalim had a strong evidence of irregularities in the Garissa township Parliamentary election, am wondering how the court upheld Aden Duale’s illegal win,” Kalonzo said.

“This is a big blow not only to Garissa township residents but Kenyans who all need electoral justice and reforms.” Kalonzo added.

The NASA co-principal urged Farah Maalim not to give up in his fight for justice for the people of Garissa township.

On Tuesday, the High Court at Milimani upheld Duale’s August win by throwing out the petition that had been filled by Farah maalim.

Hedwing Ongundi, the presiding judge ruled that Duale was validly elected in last years general election and that Farah failed to table concrete and sufficient evidence to nullify the election.

The court slapped Maalim with Sh 6 Million fine as costs for filling the petition.

However, the former Lagdera member of parliament has appealed the high court’s decision.
