WAJIR—President Uhuru was in Wajir on Saturday in his countrywide meet-the-people tour and his second visit to the county as the head of the government.

In Wajir, unlike in Narok, he did not commission nor unveiled any government projects but paraded defectors from ODM.

In his Narok visit, the president launched several government projects among them water and a specialised medical facility  at Trans-Mara West sub-county hospital and thereafter opened the Kilgoris Town main market before addressing residents. The president also lay the foundation for Dikkir Level 4 Hospital.

In the afternoon, the president commissioned the Narok Town Water Supply as well as unveiled medical equipment for Narok Sub County Hospital.

The president ended his visit to Narok by launching the tarmacking of the Narok-Sekenani Gate road and address resident in public rally.

In Wajir, he landed at 11am and after short briefing, he headed to Orahey to lead a public rally. The only activity he undertook was when he opened the Jubilee office in the county.

In a rally that lasted for 56-minutes, the president paraded ODM defectors and  spoke for less that ten minutes without addressing what majority of the people came to hear him say.

The residents wanted a rehabilitation facility for khat victims, water and sewerage project for Wajir town, solution to the constant clan-based clashes pitting border disputes, commercialisation of the Wajir international airport and the delivery of a promise he made a year earlier that he would get Wajir town a new high capacity engine for the local KPLC plant.
