NYERI—During his speech in Nyeri county at Madaraka day celebration on Thursday, president Uhuru promised to respect the outcome of the presidential vote in the August General elections.

“On Monday,I put forward my application  to serve you for another term and it is you (Kenyans) who will decide and I am ready to accept that verdict. Those defeated must wait for another chance to try again,” said Uhuru.

He said that the country was far more important than an individual. “We should all at least protect the house we have built and continue to build,” he added.

Uhuru supported an earlier statement that was made by his deputy William Ruto who said: “We want to do this as peacefully as possible, because this is our only home (country).”

The head of state also warned that the Government will deal ruthlessly with those who are out to cause trouble and chaos for the country.

“As Government we will protect your rights to exercise your choice. Our security apparatus will be  vigilant and ready to deal with acts of lawlessness and disorder,” Uhuru said, further adding: “All I ask of you is to reject politics of division and conflict and vote in peace.”

He has assured the residents that his Jubilee administration will guarantee security during the poll, challenging his fellow politicians to focus on selling their agenda for the country, instead of divisive politics.

President Uhuru used the last Madaraka festival and the last national holiday before elections are held,  to state that he will respect the will of Kenyans and losers too should be ready to accept defeat.
