Wajir County employees among them Farah Maalim asked to resign before the 9th of February

WAJIR—Wajir County government has sent out notice to all political hopefuls to tender in their resignation before the end of February next year.

In a memo dated 1st of November, the Chief Officer at the department of Labour and Special Programmes asked the county employees aspiring to contest in the August elections to give their notice of resignation by November 9th this year.

“This is to inform all public officers who are intending to contest for elective seats in the forthcoming elections to give their notice of resignation by November 9th,” the memo addressed to the County Secretary Abririzack Abdullahi and the chairman of the head of the county Public Service Board Ibrahim Dahiye, read in part.

No county employee came out to notify the county administration of their willingness to resign by close of business on Wednesday.

Among the county workers expected to tender in their resignation before the end of February next year is the former deputy speaker of the 10 parliament and Garissa Township hopeful Farah Maalim who is the advisor to the governor on Economics and Governance.

Farah belongs to the job group R earning a monthly gross salary of sh 200,000

The Elections act of 2011 stipulates that, “Any official intending to contest for elective post in a General Election to resign six months before the elections.”

The Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) election rules require all public officials to resign from office by the 9th of February.
