Kulan PostNAIROBI—President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday reaffirmed his commitment to unite Kenyans saying he “won’t be intimidated by anyone in the execution of his duties”.
A visibly angry President Kenyatta, who has reportedly been getting frequent updates on the ongoing investigations into various financial scandals that have rocked the country in recent days, said that he will not allow corrupt government officials to sabotage his ‘Big Four’ agenda.
“Wewe uliiba peke yako, chukua msalaba wako peke yako. Hatutaki tena siasa duni ya kugawanya watu. Wewe ni mwizi, utafungwa na ulale jela (If you are a thief, you will carry your own cross)”, said Uhuru.
He said the government will spare no efforts to recover all resources stolen from Kenyans through corruption schemes.
“These people who are corrupt should be jailed and we recover all the stolen funds to deliver on the things we promised Kenyans,” Mr Kenyatta said when he launched the issuance of title deeds for Nairobi residents at Jacaranda Grounds, Embakasi East, Nairobi.
The President reiterated the unity talks between him and Opposition Chief Raila Odinga whilst extending an olive branch to opposition members to join him in working towards building a peaceful nation and achieving quorum.
“Raila is a Kenyan. I have a right to talk to everybody. My aim and that of my Deputy is to unite all Kenyans,” he said.
The President said while he respects all Kenyans , he will not be bothered by those opposed and talking against the unity deal with Mr Odinga .
He asked other leaders to desist from engaging in dirty politics and focus on development projects that will benefit all Kenyans.
